Digitalization in Logistics

At the Avcılar Cerrahpaşa Campus of Istanbul University, logistics processes and the significance of digitalization were explained in the course “Digitalization in Logistics”. The lecture for students of the Logistics Department was offered in the winter semester 2019 for ten weeks, on Tuesday between 09:30 and 11:00.

In the first two weeks, logistic processes and experiences in the industry were conveyed and in the last eight weeks, operational processes of land, air and sea freight transport were explained in a practical way using our user interfaces for dispatching of the Cargomaxx and Logimaxx systems. At the end of the lectures, students presented their group project work and received grades. The students who passed the project work were presented with their certificates.

We continue to support trainings on logistics and digitization.

02. Special Training for Teachers
Programs for Logistics

During the instructor training, information was shared on the dispatching and financial screens of the Cargomax transportation management system modules (land, air, sea), invoices used, CMR, bills of lading, and departure and arrival notification documents, as well as details of the dispatching report.

The elective lesson ,,Logistics Programs” at the high schools was taught by teachers about the Cargomaxx application.

The digital transformation of logistics management: Systematic literature reviews on smart logistics
 
The term “smart”, which has arisen with the digital transformation of all industries, has led to technology-based solutions gaining in importance.

Technology-oriented management processes such as ,,smart cities’’, ,,smart buildings’’, ,,smart transportation’’ , ,,smart energy’’ have emerged with the inclusion of technologies such as the internet of things, cyber physical system, 3D printers and the like, used with smart factories in different areas of life. The concept of smartness has also gained acceptance in the supply chain and logistics sectors, allowing digital transformation to emerge in these areas as well. Despite the increasing number of studies in this field in recent years, they do not provide enough information about the current status and trends. The aim of this work is to present a systematic review of the studies on smart logistics and to identify the gaps in the literature in order to contribute to the researchers who will work in this field. The method used in the study was systematic mapping. In the research, 67 articles from the databases ,,Web of Science”, ,,Scopus” and ,,Dergipark” were evaluated. As a result of the review, descriptive findings for smart logistics studies, benefits of smart logistics and hurdles encountered in practice were highlighted.

With McDonalds, which operates thousands of restaurants worldwide, we have achieved great results in the first phase of the McData project.

In this Project, while data and file integration was provided simultaneously with more than 250 restaurants, we processed 2.5 TB of data in 174 sessions analyzing how the work is done, what is to be measured and what criteria are used.

Because we are making life easier with our technologies, we have started work on the second phase of the McData project.
